Cy Wastell

CAPTAIN

Appointed Captain in May of 2018, Cy was previously the First Mate aboard M/Y No Comment for three and a half years, therefore knows every nook and cranny aboard the 48m vessel. With 16 years of superyacht crewing experience and a degree in Yacht Design he is well qualified to lead the No Comment crew and guests on the many ocean-going adventures across the globe. He has cruised the Mediterranean, Caribbean, North America, Central America, South Pacific, Australasia, and South East Asia, always aiming to bring guests memorable experiences in new locations.

A dual citizen of the UK & NZ, Cy grew up on the Canterbury Plains of New Zealand in Kaiapoi, just north of Christchurch. Cy is an avid supporter of the New Zealand ‘Black Caps’ cricket team and enjoys any outdoor activity or adventurous pursuit.

In recent years he has discovered a passion for wildlife photography and is becoming somewhat of a “birder” as the years pass by.

Dejay McKinnon

FIRST MATE

Recently stepping up from Bosun on board M/Y No Comment in October 2023, Dejay joins us from the Gold Coast, Australia.

Dejay has wanted to be in the Maritime industry for as long as he can remember, having done sailing throughout school, and then heading straight for his basic yachting courses as soon as he could. He started out on a few 30m yachts around the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Whitsundays, and eventually made his way over to the Mediterranean to join the world of Superyachts. Dejay has managed to see some unique places during his 8 years in the industry, including Northern Patagonia in Chile.

When on land he loves to get his hands dirty, working and taking care of his car - one of his other great passions. As with the rest of the No Comment crew, he also enjoys diving in the remote places we often travel to.

Dejay has a wealth of knowledge and experience to bring to No Comment, and is a welcomed addition to the team with his cool, calm and collected nature.

Pedro Zamora

Rotational CHIEF ENGINEER

Pedro joins No Comment from Mazatlán, Mexico as the other half of our Engineering team. Growing up on the coast, he always knew he wanted to be involved in the marine industry, and so went straight into university to study Marine Engineering for 4 years. With his degree in hand he joined commercial ships, followed by working offshore on gas and oil rig boats for 5 years.

In 2016 Pedro decided that it would be beneficial to learn English, and that being in the yachting industry would help with this feat. What was meant to be temporary has now turned into a lifelong career in yachting.

In his spare time, you can find Pedro in the gym or playing baseball, as well as watching the UFC and boxing. When home on rotation he loves spending time with his 5-year-old daughter and experiencing the world through her eyes.

Pedro has some great ambitions too, like climbing to the base of Mount Everest, skydiving and running his first half marathon.

With his great sense of humour, Pedro is sure to put a smile on your face whilst on board. He is a team player and always willing to help wherever he can.

Glenn Wantenaar

Rotational CHIEF ENGINEER

Some of you may recognize our rotational Engineer, Glenn, as he previously worked on board for 4 years, leaving us to go land-based in 2021.

Before beginning his career on the ocean 12 years ago, Glenn worked as a fitter and turner at a shipyard in New Zealand.

He is an avid environmentalist with a particular love for sharks. Having previously worked for Sea Shepherd, he was involved in patrolling most of Central America for illegal fishing boats and attempting to put a stop to shark finning operations.

Glenn took a hiatus from yachting for the past 2 years to spend some quality time with his children and to travel to New Zealand’s South Island for the first time, despite having lived in the country for 22 years. He thought he had given up yachting for good however he started feeling the call of the ocean once again, and so has returned to yachts on a rotational basis.

In his spare time Glenn can be found practicing his Spanish and immersing himself in the local culture.

He is always up for a good laugh with his love for pranks and a bit of sarcasm. Should you need a helping hand, Glenn will be there in the blink of an eye.

Roxy Wastell

CHIEF STEWARDESS

A familiar face to many who embark No Comment is our Chief Stewardess, Roxy. Growing up on the east coast of Durban, South Africa, water activities were a constant recreation for her – learning to waterski at age five, and wakeboard at age eight.

Prior to yachting, Roxy studied Java Programming and worked in IT as a software tester, but quickly realized the office life was not the adventure she sought. What was initially meant to be a short stint in yachting has turned in to a passion for hospitality and life on the ocean.

Exploring countless unimaginable places and meeting people from many different cultures whilst on board No Comment, is something for which she will forever count herself lucky.  Roxy is a dynamic part of the interior team, always eager to assist with her polite and friendly nature.

Rory Clark

CHEF

Serving you food of the highest quality on board No Comment is South African born Rory, our classically trained Chef.

Before following his passion, he gained a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Cape Town and went on to complete a post graduate diploma in Marketing and Advertising. He then spent two years working as a brand strategist but decided the kitchen was where he belonged.

Rory gained experience in a fine dining bistro for 1 year, thereafter, moving from the kitchen to the galley – a career in yachting.

His ethos when it comes to food is simple food is the best food, and not much needs to be done when working with great produce. He prefers working with seasonal and local produce and believes his role is only to showcase his ingredients in their best light.

Rory is always pushing himself to bring brilliant flavours and experiences to the plates he prepares. He is an enthusiastic, lively and energized character who brings a sense of fun to the team.

Jamie Ward

BOSUN

Jamie, our Bosun and appointed Captain of our beloved Intrepid “Still Here”, joins us from Cornwall, England.

Gaining a level 2 Diploma in plumbing after school, he worked between this and lifeguarding for 4 years. Jamie was part of saving many lives on the beaches of Cornwall, and it was here that he also learnt most of his tender driving skills. This proved beneficial when he decided to get in to yachting at the age of 28, something he was introduced to by friends.

Jamie is “Cornish to the core”, growing up by the beach and spending most of his spare time in the water. With his dad owning a surf school, it comes as no surprise that he was surfing by age seven, and teaching others to surf prior to yachting. Jamie also enjoys fishing and mountain biking, as well as his newfound love for diving, having recently been certified on board by Josh. He has also dabbled in a bit of acting, most notably as an extra in Poldark as a tin miner and fishmonger.

With his confidence and experience in life on the ocean, you’re sure to be in safe hands on your South Pacific adventures on board No Comment.

Joshua Polkinghorne

DECKHAND/DIVE INSTRUCTOR

From the South African west coast to the east coast - Cape Town to Sodwana Bay – our Deckhand/Dive Instructor, Josh, has called many places home over the years, however Sodwana Bay is where he feels most at home.

Once Josh had completed his schooling career, he decided to jump straight into the world of yachting. It was his first job on a yacht that would change his life forever and inspire him to give diving a go. For Josh it was love at first dive and he has since tallied up over 2000 dives since he started in 2019. Apart from being a dive instructor on yachts, he has also worked at dive centres in the Bahamas, Indonesia and the BVIs.

Josh is most happy being out in nature, whether it be sleeping in hammocks in the Indonesian wilderness for months at a time or finding trails right off the back of the boat in search of animals. He also enjoys surfing whenever he can and practicing the art of yoga.

Whether you dive or not, you’re sure to feel the enthusiasm for the underwater world when talking with Josh. He brings a good energy to the team and is certainly a “colourful character”.

Morgan Howells

SECOND STEWARDESS

Although she may sound South African, our Second Stewardess Morgan is in fact from Namibia, growing up between the farm and the ocean. Most of her childhood was spent in the outdoors raising animals – from African big cats like Lions and Leopards to the small, sprightly Meerkat – all on her family’s wildlife rehabilitation farm.

Morgan enjoys getting involved in an array of activities such as skateboarding, surfing, running and hockey, with the most notable being representing her country internationally in karate and landing herself on the podium for 5 years straight.

After getting her honours in Law, Morgan felt she wasn’t ready for the courtroom just yet; instead, it was time to travel the world, which turned in to a career in yachting.

With one season under her belt, Morgan joins the Interior team as a valuable asset with her grounded, positive attitude. She enjoys meeting new people so be sure to strike up a conversation in English, Afrikaans or German, all of which she is fluent!

Leah Park

Third STEWARDESS

Completing the Interior team is Leah. Born in Bristol, she then moved to Shropshire on the Welsh border at the age of 4.

Growing up on rural land in the valley, she was constantly surrounded by chickens, donkeys, and goats to name a few. This sparked her love for animals and found her volunteering at animal rehabilitation centres and rescue dog kennels from a young age. Apart from being in nature, Leah also enjoys yoga, gym, reading and snow skiing - which she recently learnt last winter and instantly fell in love with.

Prior to yachting, Leah earned herself an extended diploma in Law, Politics, Psychology and Business. Before studying further, she felt the urge to explore life outside of the UK, which is when her yachting career began in Antibes at the start of 2022.

Leah is sure to make you feel at ease during your time on board No Comment with her gentle, friendly nature.
